Everett J. Huffman

Funeral Director / Embalmer & General Manager

As the General Manager of Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory, Everett oversees the South Chapel in Baldwin, the North Chapel in Demorest, and Yonah Memorial Gardens. With a deep commitment to his profession, Everett became a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in Georgia after graduating from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in 2017.

His connection with the funeral home dates back to 2014 when he joined on a part-time basis. Over time, his dedication led him to a full-time role as an Apprentice in 2017. After obtaining his Funeral Director and Embalmer licenses, Everett's expertise and leadership qualities shone through, and he was appointed as the General Manager in January 2019.

Beyond his professional achievements, Everett is involved in the community. He is a member of Level Grove Baptist Church, he also dedicates his time to organizations like the Habersham Rotary Club and The Easton Foundation's Board of Directors, where he serves as the Executive Administrator. Everett is also a member of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia and the Georgia Funeral Director's Association, where he previously served as the District 1E Chair.

Everett's passions extend beyond his work, too. He enjoys bowling, serving as President of the USBC Monday Night Church and Business League at Clarkesville Lanes. Everett also has a love for music, which is evident through his involvement in singing and playing the piano.

In his own words, Everett's mission is clear: to serve every family with the utmost care and respect, treating them as if they were his own. His door is always open to address any questions or concerns, reflecting his genuine desire to connect on a personal level with those he serves.

David Edge

Office Manager

David Edge, an integral member of the Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory team since August 2019, brings a wealth of experience and compassion to his role as Office Manager for the funeral homes. With a career spanning over two decades, David's journey in the funeral service industry began at a remarkably young age, setting the stage for a lifelong commitment to serving families during their most challenging times.

Born with a natural inclination towards empathy and a strong desire to help others, David Edge embarked on his remarkable journey in the funeral service industry at the tender age of 15. It was during these formative years that David discovered his calling, understanding the profound importance of providing solace and support to grieving families. His early start in the field laid the foundation for a career dedicated to serving others during their most vulnerable moments.

David's passion for funeral service only grew stronger with each passing year. His commitment to the industry led him to Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory in August 2019, where he would continue to make a difference in the lives of countless families. With a cumulative experience of more than 21 years, David's expertise and unwavering dedication have made him an invaluable asset to the Whitfield team.

As the Office Manager for Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory, David Edge assumes a vital role. His responsibilities extend the North Chapel, the South Chapel, our Crematory, and Yonah Memorial Gardens. This multifaceted role showcases David's versatility and ability to handle various aspects of the funeral service industry with grace and professionalism.

Beyond his professional life, David Edge treasures his family life. He and his wife, Brendi, have a loving home in Clermont, where they reside with their four children. This emphasis on family underscores David's understanding of the importance of strong support systems and the bonds that tie loved ones together.

David Edge's inspiring journey in the funeral service industry, which began in his youth and has continued for over two decades, reflects a lifetime of dedication, empathy, and unwavering commitment to helping families in their times of need. J. Larry & Evie W. Whitfield

Founders & Owners Emeritus

Larry has been in funeral service since 1964. He founded Whitfield-Perkins in 1971. He is a graduate of the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science and is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. Larry is currently a member of the Georgia Funeral Directors Association and he is Past-President. Larry is a long time member of the Cornelia Lion’s Club, a member of the Cornelia Lodge #92 F & A M; Valley of Atlanta, Scottish Rite Masonary and Yaraab Shrine Temple. He is a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the Sons of the American Revolution. Larry is a member of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia and the National Funeral Director's Association(NFDA). He is a deacon and member of the Cornelia First Baptist Church. He and his wife, Evie, have a son, John and, a daughter, Lora. They have six grandchildren, Maggie, Piper, Tate, Jasper, Kyndle, and Sadie Gail Inkeybo.

Evie is the wife of Larry Whitfield. She is a graduate of Greenleaf Business College and the Co-Founder of Whitfield Funeral Homes, Inc. She is still a very vital part of the organization filling in on a part-time basis in whatever capacity needed. Evie is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, and the Habersham County and Franklin County Historical Societies. She is also an active member of the Cornelia First Baptist Church.

John W. Whitfield

Funeral Director / Embalmer & Owner Emeritus

John is the son of Larry and Evie. He has been employed with the funeral home since 1993. He is a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service and is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. John is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Academy of Graduate Embalmers. He attends Riverpoint Community Church. He is married to Stormie Wright Whitfield, they have two sons, John Tate, Jasper Wayne and one daughter, Sadie Gail Inkeybo.

Wesley Forrester

Wesley has been a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer since 2015. He is a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service. Wesley resides in Mt. Airy, Georgia with his wife, Liz and his two beautiful children. He has many active roles in the community, including his primary occupation serving as a Realtor with Anchor Real Estate Advisors. Wesley is excited to continue serving the residents of the Northeast Georgia area at Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory on a part-time basis.

Sara Nicholson Lee

Funeral Director GA5556 & Embalmer GA5155

Sara Nicholson Lee has collectively served with Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory for over seven years. Sara brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, having been in the funeral profession for over twelve years. She is a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, having graduated from John A. Gupton Mortuary College in 2016. She graduated from Habersham Central High School in 2010 and resides in Demorest with her husband David and dachshund, Sophie Marney. She is the daughter of Roy Nicholson and the late Pat Wilkes. She is the sister of Acie Serpa.

Roy Kelley

Funeral Director GA4107 & Embalmer GA3691

Roy has been with Whitfield Funeral Homes collectively for over 28 years. He attended Georgia College, North Georgia Technical College and Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service and is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. He is a member of Pi Sigma Eta, Cornelia Masonic Lodge F A&M #92, Cornelia Lion’s Club, Cornelia Kiwanis Club, and Demorest Baptist Church. He is married to Janet (Judy) Ayers Kelley. They have one son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Kelly and a granddaughter, India and a grandson, Kingston.

Kevin Bowers has been with Whitfield Funeral Homes since May of 2019. Kevin has a heart for people and loves serving and helping others here at the funeral homes as well as in his personal life.

Charles Burke

Director's Assistant Emeritus

Charles and his wife, Gail live in Clarkesville and are members of the Clarkesville United Methodist Church. Charles has been with Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory since 2010. In December of 2022, Charles was given the honor of Director's Assistant Emeritus for his many years of dedicated service to Whitfield Funeral Homes. Although Charles has semi-retired he is still honored to assist when the need arises.

Wayne Thomas

Director's Assistant

Wayne joined the Whitfield Funeral Homes Family in February of 2024. He was born and raised in Lula, and married Patricia Gibbs from Gainesville. They have two children and 7 grandchildren. Wayne retired 14 years ago from a career in manufacturing management, and was a part time cattle farmer for 30 years. He also serves as a Deacon at Liberty Baptist Church in Lula.

Lee Hill

Director's Assistant & Service Musician

Lee Hill has been serving part-time with Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory since the beginning of 2023. Lee is the full-time Worship Pastor at Maysville Baptist Church. He grew up in Commerce, Georgia, but moved to Cornelia in 2008 while serving at Minister of Music at Level Grove Baptist Church. Lee is married to Myra. They have three children and recently moved back to Commerce after serving eight years at the First Baptist Church of Moultrie, GA. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Lee is proud to help serve here at the funeral home as a Director's Assistant as well as a Musician for funeral services when needed.

Carrie Holcomb

Director's Assistant

Carrie has been with Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory collectively for over 10 years. She serves as a director's assistant. Carrie loves and cares for the people in our community.

Carrie is married to Chad Holcomb and have 5 children and several grandchildren. She is a member at Harvest Christian Church and is a member of the Banks County Historical Society.

Tyler Anderson

Owner of Site Solutions

Tyler Anderson is the proud owner of North Georgia's elite grave service provider, Site Solutions.

Whitfield Funeral Homes mission is to provide the most pristine services to our community from the time we begin the care for a family until the very last task is completed. Our mission also includes the services and care a family receives at a graveside service. Site Solutions is proud to provide the excellent care and compassion that each family deserves.

Tyler founded Site Solutions to raise the bar of expectations for grave services. Ultimately, the family should see professionalism and care throughout the entire service process of their loved one.

Tyler has been involved in the funeral business all of his life. His father is the owner of a funeral home, and he has utilized this to gain first hand knowledge and hands on experience in funeral services. Working in a funeral home has taught Tyler a great deal about how to serve a grieving family and he believes a family's needs should always come first.

Kim Anderson

Director's Assistant

Kim has been employed with the funeral home since July of 2013. She works full-time with Rabun County Schools as a Technician/Data Support Specialist for the District. Kim has been married to her husband, Victor for 33 years, they have two daughters, Lauren and Amberly; and one grandson, Kendrick.

Howell "Scotty" Scott

In Loving Memory: 1940-2022

Howell Scott, was known as Scotty. He served in funeral service for over 50 years. Scotty was married to his loving wife, Linda and resided in Martin. Together they had twin boys Tim Scott and the late Kim Scott. Scotty had four grandchildren. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, and loved to spend his Saturdays during football season cheering on the "Dawgs".
