Whitfield Funeral Homes added an on-site crematory in 2006. The first of its kind in Habersham County and we are proud to say we are the only funeral home with on-site cremation care in Habersham County.

What does that mean for you and your loved one? It is actually one of the most important aspects in cremation care, It means from the moment your loved one enters our care, until we return their remains to you or settle their remains in their final resting place, your family member or friend is treated with the highest level of respect and integrity. It also guarantees your loved one never leaves our care at any moment during the cremation process.

Many funeral homes utilize third party crematories that are not affiliated with their funeral home. These funeral homes transfer your loved one to these outside cremation services. And must rely on the care of someone other than themselves to provide the cremation process for your loved one.

That’s what sets Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory apart. We have our own crematory located at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel in Baldwin, so all your services are managed and performed by our certified staff. We provide a system of checks and balances to ensure the cremated remains returned to you are those of your loved one. We oversee the entire process, and your loved one never leaves our care. That is our promise to you.

We hope this commitment will be a huge comfort to you at a time when there are so many considerations you have and decisions you need to make. Allowing Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory to serve eliminates the worries you might have about cremation. We will also work with you to make sure whatever service precedes or follows the cremation is full of meaning and infused with your loved one’s personality. ï»¿

We firmly believe that everyone, from all walks of life deserve a fitting tribute to honor the life lived.

Below are options offered for cremation services. Our goal is to keep you informed and educate our community on what is readily available, please reach out by phone or email with any questions you may have about the services we offer.

TRADITIONAL SERVICE

Many families find meaning and beauty in a traditional funeral service. With a traditional service combined with cremation, you can still choose to have a visitation and/or funeral service with your loved one in a casket. However, instead of in-ground burial, the funeral will be followed by cremation.

MEMORIAL SERVICE

The memorial service or celebration of life can be held in our chapel, a church, or any other venue your family chooses. We will work with your family and clergy to design a service that honors your loved one, truly celebrating his/her life. Our funeral home chapels have a piano available, as well as cameras for webcasting the service.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE

A graveside service is held at the cemetery. We have a tent, chairs, artificial grass, speaker podium, bottled water, tables and a PA system (microphone and speaker) available. When the memorial service is at the funeral home chapel or a church, we will typically go in procession to the cemetery, where a committal service is held.

A PRIVATE FAREWELL SERVICE

This is an informal identification viewing that takes place in a private setting and allows the immediate family to have an opportunity to have a final goodbye prior to cremation.

A SIMPLE CREMATION

Another option with cremation oriented options is a simple cremation, sometimes referred to as a direct cremation. Your loved one is directly cremated which is an option for only disposition of your loved one's remains, with no services planned or held.
