Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory has been a part of Habersham County since 1971. Formerly known as Whitfield-Perkins Funeral Home, the funeral home was located on South Main Street in Baldwin.
After Swenson Perkins death, Larry & Evie Whitfield built a new facility and moved to their present location on Industrial Boulevard in Baldwin
In June of 1999, Larry and Evie Whitfield, along with David C. Wall purchased the former Habersham Memorial Chapel renamed it the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel in order to better serve the entire county.
Larry and Evie Whitfield and their staff have developed a proud funeral service tradition built on dignity, respect, and compassion in their 50 years of service to this county and surrounding areas. Service is their first priority and they have a commitment to give the most caring, professional service possible. Quality service and cost are both important to the families of this area. Larry has been a Georgia Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer since 1967. Evie was her husband's business partner from 1985 to 2005 when she retired to spend more time with their grandchildren. Evie still assists at the funeral home on a part-time basis.
Larry and Evie’s son, John, has been employed by the funeral home since 1994. John has been a Georgia Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer since 1996. In September 2002, Yonah Memorial Gardens, Habersham County's oldest Perpetual Care Cemetery, adjacent to the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, in Demorest was purchased to help provide full service to the area.
In January of 2019, Everett J. Huffman was appointed General Manager to oversee all operations for both the North and South Chapels, The Crematory, and Yonah Memorial Gardens; Everett who has been employed with the funeral home since the beginning of 2014 is a Georgia Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer.
