Richard "Ricky" Thomas Powell, Sr.

Richard Thomas "Ricky" Powell, Sr., age 60, of Cleveland, Georgia, formerly of Winder, Georgia went to be with The Lord on Sunday, October 16, 2016 following an extended illness. Mr. Powell was born on January 27, 1956 in Elberton, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Wylene Powell; grandparents, Tom and Ruth Powell; grandson, Richard Thomas Powell, III. He was a heavy equipment operator. At the time of his death, he was employed with the White County School System. Survivors include his wife, Linda L. Powell, of Cleveland, GA, formerly of Winder, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and Shane Chatham, of Monticello, GA; April and Derrick Cox, of Cleveland, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Richie and Saundra Powell, of Monticello, GA; sisters, Pam Powell Earls, of Athens, GA; Judy Shiflett, of Cedartown, GA; Linda Rowland, of Cartersville, GA; brother, Chris Powell, of Tennessee; 13 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Level Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2016 at the funeral home.
