Rev. V. William "Bill" Humphries

REV. V. WILLIAM "BILL" HUMPHRIES, age 81, of Demorest, Georgia passed away on Monday, January 10, 2011, at a private care facility following an extended illness. Rev. Humphries was born on July 4, 1929, in Cleveland, Georgia to the late Aaron and Maude Crowe Humphries. He was also preceded in death by his son, Mitchell "Mitch" Eugene Humphries; brothers, Hershel and J.D. Humphries; and sisters, Edith Presley, Bertha Crane, and Thelma Pritchett. Rev. Humphries was a retired Baptist minister and full time pastor having served, Baldwin Baptist Church, Baldwin, GA; Tanglewood Baptist Church and Second Baptist Church, both of Greenville, SC; First Baptist Church of Slater, SC; First Baptist Church of Norris, SC; Toms Creek Baptist Church, Carnesville, GA; Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Gainesville, GA; and Judson Baptist Church, Greenville, SC. Rev. Humphries was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Demorest, Georgia. Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Wilma Brookshire Humphries, Demorest, GA; daughter, Wanda Gillum, Gainesville, GA; sister, Gladys McQueen, Gainesville, GA; brother, Rev. John Humphries, Clarkesville, GA; grandson and his wife, Kyle Gillum and Emily; granddaughter and her husband, Kamila Wyse and Reggie; and one great-granddaughter, McKayla Gillum. Funeral services are schedules for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Russ Barker, Rev. Robert Truelove, and Rev. John Humphries officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Mt.
