Mrs. Lillie Mae "Ma" Norton

Mrs. Lillie Mae "Ma" Norton, age 82, of Alto, Georgia passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Norton was born on September 28, 1927, in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Luther B. and Martha Bowen Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Norton and her great-granddaughter, Allison "Allie" Ferguson. Mrs. Norton was a homemaker and a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and was the rock of her entire family. Survivors include daughter, Edna Pruitt, Alto, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Alan Browning, Lula, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Reggie and Penny Norton, Alto, GA, Tony and Cindy Norton, Lula, GA, and Wesley and Tracey Burton, Alto, GA; sons, Eugene Norton, Alto, GA and Charles "Chuck" Norton, Alto, GA; "special youngun" and caregiver, Tish Phillips, Alto, GA; special great-grandson, Austin Foley, Blue Ridge, GA; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 12, 2010, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA with Rev. Austin Kelley and Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ray Turpin officiating at the graveside. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
