Michael Scott Thomas

Michael "Mike" Scott Thomas, age 71, of Baldwin, Georgia went to his Heavenly Home on Friday, August 25, 2023.

Mr. Thomas was born on August 13, 1952 in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father, Jean Norman Thomas; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Mr. Thomas was a graduate of Toccoa Falls College having graduated in 1986 with a degree in Old Testament Studies. He was a minister of the gospel for 16 years and had served at the Church of Christ in Pendleton, Oregon, Gonzales, Louisianna, and in Gainesville, Georgia. He was devout in his faith and continued to teach until his passing. Mike was an avid muscle car enthusiast, antique collector, and loved all things railroad related. He was also the owner and operator of Mike's Exterior Home Care for over 25 years. Mike opened his home and heart to anyone in need including fostering children, and mentoring young men in the community. Mike will be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, son, father, grandfather, and brother.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Carolyn Balogh Thomas, of Baldwin; mother, Kathleen Thomas, of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter, Charity Thomas Fulbright, of Buford; daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Patrick Wooten, of Cornelia; grandchildren, Laura Wooten, Patrick Wooten, Jr.; sisters, Robin Smith, and Tammy Miller, both of Florida; and two nieces and one nephew.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Arthur Howard officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at the funeral home prior to the service.
