DR. KAY BROWN ROGERS, age 57, of Mt. Airy, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, November 06, 2013, at the residence following a brief illness. Dr. Rogers was born in Clarkesville, Georgia on February 16, 1956. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sam Pitts. Dr. Rogers was a retired educator having served in Habersham County, Banks County, Haralson County and Gwinnett County. Survivors include husband Leroy Rogers, Mt. Airy; father and mother, Donald and Jewell Brown, Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Georgia Pitts, Cornelia; step-daughter and spouse, Lisa and David Newton, Buford; step-sons and spouses, Kirk and Jill Rogers, Toccoa and Bryan and Traci Rogers, Sugar Hill; sister and brother-in-law, Kimberly and Eddie Staples, Buford; eight grandchildren, Addie Pitts, Hogan Pitts, Morgan Pitts, Kole Rogers, Bryce Rogers, Brett Rogers, Taylor Rogers and Luke Newton; and niece, MacKenzie Staples. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2013, at Clarkesville Baptist Church with Rev. James Harper and Rev. Grady Walden officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. David Turner officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
