John Kenneth Caudell

Mr. John Kenneth Caudell, age 76 of Cornelia passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 following an extended illness. Born in Banks County, Georgia on July 18, 1933, Mr. Caudell was the son of the late Pitner L. and Decie Coker Caudell. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Cora Caudell, Mary Sue Donahue, Bernice Andrews, Doris Comer, brothers, Oscar Caudell, Hermit Caudell, and Louie Caudell. Mr. Caudell served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He also served as an Administrative Assistant with the Veteran's Administration with over 30 years of service. Mr. Caudell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cornelia and a member of the Men's Sunday School Class. Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Betty Caudell, Jefferson, GA; sister, Christine Ivester, Cornelia, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Armond Goza, Tucker, GA; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 01, 2010 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel in Demorest with the Rev. David Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post # 84, the Grant Reeves VFW Post # 7720, and the Rabun County DAV Chapter # 15. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest. The family requests that flowers be omitted and that all memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Cornelia, P.O. Box 96 Cornelia, GA. 30531 or to the charity of one's choice.
