Joe Blackburn

Joe Blackburn, age 72 of Alto, passed away Sunday, December 09, 2018 at Landmark Hospital in Athens, Georgia. A visitation service will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 6:00-8:00pm at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel. Mr. Blackburn was born January 21, 1946 in Clarkesville, Georgia to Floyd Blackburn and Margie Cook Blackburn. He served in the United States Army; was an electrician by trade and he was a member of B.C. Grant Baptist Church. Mr. Blackburn was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Kimberly Dawn Blackburn. Mr. Blackburn is survived by his daughter, Tammy Owens; his sons, Kenny (Teresa) Blackburn, Josh Blackburn and Justin Blackburn; sisters, Ann Pritchett and Kathy Chitwood; 9 grandchildren; special caretakers, Denise Turner and Tambra Armour. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to one’s favorite charity in Joe’s memory.
