Imogene "Gene" Irvin Batson

IMOGENE "GENE" IRVIN BATSON, age 85, Demorest, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Mrs. Batson was born on October 30, 1928, in Demorest Georgia; the daughter of the late Floyd and Bertha London Irvin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Batson; sister, Midge Erwin; brothers, Billy Irvin and Crawford Irvin. Mrs. Batson was a graduate of Piedmont College with a B.A. Degree. She was member of Demorest Baptist Church; she was a homemaker and a former co-owner of Lane's Food Store. Mrs. Batson was a devoted mother and grandmother. Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Julie and Bruce Glenn, Watkinsville; son, Lane Batson, Clarkesville; grandchildren, Michael and wife Stephanie Batson, Katie Glenn, Meredith Glenn, Stephanie Lott; great granddaughter, Caroline Jones; two other great grandchildren; one great great grandchild. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., on Friday, February 28, 2014, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Dr. Tom Mewborn officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2014 and from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour on Friday.
