Hugh B. Taylor

Hugh B. Taylor, age 85, of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Taylor was born on February 6, 1933 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Charles Martin and Oma Barron Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five five of his siblings. Mr. Taylor was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for several years. He was on the Habersham County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and was a member of the Cattlemen's Association, serving on both for several years. He was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Taylor worked for over 35 years with Fieldale Farms. Hugh was a hardworking farmer, which was something he did his entire life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Doris Anderson Taylor, of Clarkesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Keith Powell, of Toccoa; Carol and Danny Parker, of Anderson, SC; sister, Ovelle Harper, of Conyers; grandchildren, Leigh Ann Renner and Jason, of Anderson, SC; Jenny Ritcey and Justin, of Toccoa; Samantha Brown and Wesley, of Boiling Springs Lakes, NC; and Alexandra Parker, of Anderson, SC. five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the funeral home prior to the service. A Private Family Burial will be held at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery on Monday, December 17, 2018 Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church, New Liberty Road, Clarkesville, Georgia 30523.
