Homer Lee "Skinny" Erwin

HOMER LEE "SKINNY" ERWIN, age 91, of Cornelia, GA passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2010, following a period of declining health. Mr. Erwin was born in Habersham County, Georgia on March 26, 1919, to the late John C. and Margie Morris Erwin. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest, Coleman, Ray, and Lewis Erwin, sisters, Maybelle Ivie, Caroline Watkins, Pauline Batson, and Fannie Tilson. Mr. Erwin was of the Baptist faith and a lifelong carpenter and farmer in the Mud Creek Community. He was known for his interest in natural medicine. Mr. Erwin enjoyed reading and discussing biblical prophecy. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include sisters, Marie Thompson Tench, Lovenie Simmons, and Ethel Ivester Smith all of Cornelia, Georgia, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, GA with Rev. David Tilson and Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell officiating. Interment will be held at Mud Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 1, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Friday, July 2, 2010, from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, GA .
