Hazel Lucille Gibson Parker

Hazel Lucille Gibson Parker, age 71, of Clarkesville, GA, died Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Stephens County Hospital. Mrs. Parker was born on October 21, 1938 in Clarkesville, Georgia to the late Hershel and Linda Corine Waldrup Gibson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Parker, Sr., her son, Daniel Ray Parker, and her brothers, Carl Gibson, Dillard Gibson, and Charlie Gibson. Mrs. Parker was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a homemaker and enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets. Mrs. Parker proudly received her driver's license at the age of 51. Survivors include: her daughters: Linda Murphy, Grandview, TN; Brenda Hilburn, Orlando, FL; her son: Johnny Parker, Douglasville, GA; her sons and daughters-in-law: Robert, Jr. and Julie Parker, Jackson, SC; Thomas and Shelly Parker, McDonough, GA; her sisters: Betty Franklin, Banks Co, GA; Dorothy Robinson, Alto, GA; her brother: Chester Gibson, Toccoa, GA; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the North Chapel from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, January 11, 2010.
