David Michael Bland

David Michael Bland, age 54 of Demorest, Georgia, went home to the Lord on October 13, 2022. He was born on March 14, 1968, in Bloomington, Illinois to Jim and Pat Bland.

At age 19, he began working at State Farm in printing and moved to technician when he went to work for the corporate office. Dave was a Mensa member, and his genius level intellect made him an invaluable asset over his almost 35 year career.

Dave met the love of his life, Catherine, at State Farm and married her on October 31, 1998. He gained two daughters, Cassi and Jessie, through his marriage.

His interests and hobbies included: collecting interesting antiques and folk pottery, traveling, motorcycles, unusual vehicles of which he had several over the years, shooting, and coin collecting. Dave had an excellent sense of humor and participated in local theater which showcased his vibrant personality.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Bland, parents, Jim and Pat Bland, daughters Cassi (Andy) Hollums, Jessie (Christofer) Hawkins, and grandchildren Lysander, Melchizedek, Hilkiah, Hypatia, and Baby Girl Hollums, Jane and Finlee Hawkins. His sister Robyn (Dave) Batts, 2 nephews and 1 niece-in-law also survive him along with Aunts, Uncles, and many cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 21, 2022, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Mike Gillespie officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., Friday, October 21, 2022, at the funeral home prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Habersham County Animal Shelter 4231 B Toccoa Highway Clarkesville, GA 30523 as Dave rescued several dogs from there.
