ANTHONY MARK "TONY" REED, age 70, of Clarkesville, Georgia, formerly of Chestnut Mountain, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Reed was born on October 16, 1940, in Northfield, Vermont. He was the son of the late Ellsworth and Alice Jerry Reed. Mr. Reed was a proud United States Army veteran. He retired from the British Oxygen Corporation, also known as BOC. He was a member of the Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Eloise Reed, Clarkesville, GA; two wonderful sons, Kevin Reed, Orlando, FL and Scott Reed, Clarkesville, GA; the two joys of his life grandchildren, John Clayton Reed and Ella Morgan Reed; sister and brother-in-law, Bunny and Dean Lilly, Port Orange, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Margie Reed, Largo, FL; brothers, Joe Reed, Washington, NH and Thomas Reed, Salisbury, NH; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Sandra Vinson, Buford, GA. A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia. Rev. John Batusic and Rev. Kennedy Smart will officiate. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hope Lodge, 1552 Shoup Court, Decatur, Georgia 30033, in memory of Tony Reed.
