Wilma Jean Yearwood

Wilma Jean Yearwood, age 77, of Demorest, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 12, 2016, following a sudden illness. Mrs. Yearwood was born on December 10, 1939, in Demorest, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Alice Ivester; father, Cager Ivester; grandson, Michael Garnett Yearwood; and granddaughter, Kathy Brooks Yearwood. Mrs. Yearwood was a loyal and dedicated employee of Carwood Manufacturing, until its closing, with 35 years of service. She then served 15 years with Community Bank and Trust. Mrs. Yearwood was a member of Demorest Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Garnett William Yearwood, Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Catherine Yearwood, Demorest; sister, Judy Thomas, Turnerville; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Mary Lou Ivester, Turnerville; grandson and spouse, Johnny and Jennifer Yearwood and mother, Vickie Yearwood; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 16, 2016, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Dr. Tom Mewborn officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at the funeral home.
