William "Billy" G. Churchwell, Jr.

William G. "Billy" Churchwell, Jr., age 69, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016. Mr. Churchwell was born on May 6, 1947 in Habersham County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Guy Churchwell, Sr. and Edna Ivie Churchwell. Mr. Churchwell was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of Tugalo Baptist Church, and a member of Toccoa VFW Post #4346. Mr. Churchwell was a retired Postmaster with the United States Postal Service. Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Shirley Norris Churchwell, of Cornelia; daughter, Lynn Churchwell Reeves, of Toccoa; son and daughter-in-law, William Lee and Robin Churchwell, of Cleveland; brother, Bruce Churchwell, of Cornelia; grandchildren, Garrett Churchwell, Christopher Reeves, Thomas Churchwell, Wyatt Churchwell, Dylan Beatty, and Railyn Beatty. Memorial Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Terry Rice officiating and military honors provided by the United States Army, Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, American Legion Post #84, and the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15.
