Walter D. Purcell

WALTER D. PURCELL, age 95, of Skyland Drive, Cornelia, GA, died Friday, July 21, 2006 in Commerce, Georgia. Mr. Purcell was born on May 10, 1911 in Banks County, Georgia. He was a son of the late John and Minnie Watkins Purcell and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Bronez Pless Purcell, daughter, Madge Purcell Frye, granddaughter, Amanda Frye and brothers, Dr. Claude Purcell, Clarence Purcell and Clay Purcell. Mr. Purcell was a member of the Enon Baptist Church and was a retail grocery salesman and former owner of Purcell Motel. He was a mason and member of the Cornelia Lodge #92 F & AM. Survivors include: his wife: Floranell Pless Allen Purcell, Lula, GA; Son and Daughter-in-law: Donald and Linda Purcell, Athens, GA; Sisters: Mary Elizabeth Brown, Douglasville, GA; Essie Mae Foster, Cornelia, GA; Mozelle Dover, Michigan; 1 grandson, Joe Purcell, Athens, GA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2006 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin. Interment will follow in the Alta Vista Cemetery, Gainesville, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
