Vinnie Lee Hicks Popham

VINNIE LEE HICKS POPHAM, age 94, of Clarkesville, GA passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2010. Born on September 26, 1915 in Habersham County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel C. and Leasie Whiting Hicks. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arvil William Popham; daughters, Bobbie Jean Wright and Joyce Ann White; great-great grandson, Memphis Harrelson; and brother, Gordon Hicks. Mrs. Popham was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Habersham County. Mrs. Popham is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Carol Popham of Clarkesville; son-in-law, Howard Wright of Cornelia; grandchildren and their spouses: Lynn and Tommy Anderson of Clarkesville, Karen and Bruce Standridge of Cornelia, Leesa and Jeff Anderson of Clarkesville, Greg and Sue Popham of Clarkesville, Gary and Pam Wright of Clarkesville, Leslie Popham of Clarkesville, Todd and Laura White of Snellville, Laura White of Mississippi, and Leah Popham of Clarkesville; 10 great grandchildren; and 22 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by special nieces Lois Tench and Elaine Holbrooks. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2010 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA with Rev. Jody Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:45 p.m., Sunday, May 30, 2010 at the funeral home.
