Verna Jeanette Davis

Verna Sampson Davis, age 95, of Gainesville, Georgia formerly of the Skylake Community passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019. Mrs. Davis was born on May 9, 1924 in Lucas County, Iowa to the late Edward and Esther Anderson Sampson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Emmett Larry Davis and was the last of her eight siblings. Mrs. Davis was an Accounting Supervisor with Southern Bell, and retired after 32 years of loyal and dedicated service. She was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Navy. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Emmett Larry Davis, Jr. and Kathy; son, Randall Davis; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Karl Swager; eight grandchildren, Shelley Schultheis and Brad, Richard Davis and Luanne, Reese Oldenwelder and Chris, Jacqueline Beachy and Benjamin, Julianne Mart and Sedric, Elizabeth Lan, Patrick Rose and Heather, Kevin Rose and Nikki; eight great-grandchildren, Austin, Chandler, Sophie, Luke, Alisa, Weston, Emmett, Annabelle. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2019 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Keith Windmiller. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
