Vera Tomlin Payne

VERA TOMLIN PAYNE, age 82, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012. Mrs. Payne was born on April 9, 1930, in White County, Georgia; daughter of the late Ernest and Lizzie Freeman Tomlin. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Payne; sister, Ethelene Martin; and brothers, C.D. Tomlin and Guy Lee Tomlin. Mrs. Payne was a homemaker and a member of Level Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include her dog, Princess Payne, two daughters, Pat Ward, Baldwin, GA and Jeanette Blair, Jackson, TN; sister, Lola Blair, Lula, GA; grandsons, James Kevin Blair, Knoxville, TN and Glenn Ashley Blair, Jackson, TN; and great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Marie Blair and Aaron Mitchell Blair. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2012, at Level Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Brian James, Rev. Terry Rice, and Rev. W.A. Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Level Grove Baptist Church, P.O. Box 416, Cornelia, Georgia 30531. Arrangements are in the care of Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
