Velma C. Black

Velma C. Black, age 96, of Clarkesville, Georgia, formerly of McRae and Tucker Georgia, went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, August 13, 2011, following an extended illness. Mrs. Black was born in McRae, Georgia on January 15, 1915, to the late Frank and Emma Heath Brown. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Black was a member of Habersham Baptist Church; she was a devoted mother and homemaker. Survivors include daughter, Renee Black, Clarkesville, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Don and Kay Black, Clarkesville, GA and Thomas A and Lu Black, Lawrenceville, GA; granddaughter and spouse, Tammy and Charlie Reid; granddaughter, Stacy Black; grandson and spouse, Don Jr. and Rhonda Black; granddaughter, Kim Black ; great grandsons, Mathew and Daniel Reid, and Riley and Jared Black; great-great-grandson, Gavyn Reid. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA with Pastor Mike Franklin officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
