T.L. "Tim" Mccoy

T.L. "TIM" MCCOY, age 85, of West Russ Stephens Road, Mt. Airy, GA, died Saturday, September 30, 2006 at a local medical center. Mr. McCoy was born on January 31, 1921 in Walker County, Alabama to the late Willie Franklin and Bertie Sloan McCoy. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Willie McCoy and a sister Bertie McCoy. Mr. McCoy was a member of the Camp Creek Baptist Church and the Cornelia Lodge #92, F & A M where he was a Past Master and served as Secretary of the lodge for 16 years. He was retired from the United States Navy having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict for a total of 20 years of service. Mr. McCoy also served with the Unites States Navy Fleet Reserve. He was retired from Standard Telephone Company as a Business Consultant with 21 years of service. Survivors include: his wife: Gladys Smith McCoy, Mt. Airy, GA; daughter and son-in-law: Linda Susan and Richard A. McClure, Gainesville, GA; sons and daughters-in-law: Thomas Wayne and Janie McCoy, and Richard Lewis and Evelyn McCoy, all of Mt. Airy, GA; brothers: George Buell McCoy, Bessemer, AL; Alister Leon McCoy, Jacksonville, FL; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 2, 2006 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Rev. Walter Burrell and Dr. Bill Barrs officiating. Burial will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15 and the Habersham County American Legion Post #84 and Masonic Grave rites to be conducted by the Cornelia Lodge #92, F & A M.
