Thomas Bush Martin

Mr. Thomas Bush Martin, age 87 of 4243 Prospect Road, Toccoa, Georgia and father of Oliver Martin, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011 at his residence. A son of the late Oliver Parks and Emma Catherine Purcell Martin, he was born February 21, 1923 in Franklin County, Georgia having lived in Franklin County all his life. He was a U.S. Army W.W. II Veteran of the European Theater. He was retired from Coats and Clark with 25 years of service. He was a cattle and poultry farmer. He was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church, a member of Red Hill Masonic Lodge and Red Hill Chapter of the Eastern Star. He was preceded in death by an infant son. Survivors include his wife of the home Josephine Taylor Martin, daughter and son-in-law Emma Mearl and Milton Tolbert of Toccoa, Georgia, sons and daughters-in-law Thomas and Lori Martin and Oliver and Donna Martin both of Toccoa, grandchildren Joni Martin Keith, Chantay Martin Milford and Sandi Martin and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 22, 3 O'clock PM at Prospect United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dennis Wilkes officiating. The following nephews will serve as pallbearers and should assemble at Acree-Davis Funeral Home by 2:15 PM, Parker Martin, Parks Martin, Billy Martin, Pierce Martin, Rodney Martin and Vance Martin, Jr. The family will be at the home on Prospect Road and will receive friends at Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Monday from 3 PM to 5 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM and on Tuesday from 1 PM until the service time. Interment will follow in Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery with Chaplain Robert Terrell officiating and Military Honors provided by V.F.W. Post 4346.
