Terrell "Terry" Megginson Walton

Terrell "Terry" Megginson Walton - loving mother, transcendent pianist, contagious laugher, and devoted servant of Christ - age 51, of Cornelia, GA., died on October 17, 2013 at her home with complications from cancer. Born to the late Rev. Mitford Ray Megginson, Sr. and Mrs. Cleo Ruth Faggard Megginson on November 24, 1961 in her beloved hometown of Fairhope, AL., Terry is survived by her daughters: Eva Elizabeth Walton (Kathryn Kendrick), Allyson Marie Walton (Zach Wallen), and Shelby Eliza Walton; sister Elizabeth Ruth Megginson; brothers Mitford Ray "Mickey" Megginson, Jr. (Charlene) and Michael Phillip Megginson (Sally); nieces Paige Jennings, Lauren McCrory (Daniel), Marisa Menezes, and Leah Megginson; nephew Daniel Megginson; great-niece and nephews; the Walton family; and faithful friends. The great privilege of Terry's life was serving the Lord through music and ministry. Throughout her career she served as pianist at her alma mater, Mobile College, and Hillcrest Baptist Church, Mobile, AL; Johns Creek Baptist Church, Alpharetta, GA; First Baptist Church Cornelia, GA; and Clarkesville United Methodist Church, Clarkesville, GA. Terry worked in public relations at Broadway Baptist Church, Ft. Worth, TX; Mobile College; and for the last 15 years with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship developing global missions campaigns and organizing General Assembly gatherings. Terry's truest joy was being a mother to her daughters, who will miss her deeply. Visitation will be held October 19, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, Cornelia, GA, October 19, 2013 at 4:00 p.m., and First Baptist Church, Spanish Fort, AL, October 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and interment immediately following at Mobile Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank Elizabeth Bernstein and the team at Dr. Andrew Green's practice and Sandy, Kara, Debra, Nanci, Dora, and Bruce for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Terry's name to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Clarkesville United Methodist Church.
