Susie Irene Gilbert

Susie Irene Gilbert, 98, wife of the late Rev. Wyatt M. Gilbert, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016. Born in Stockbridge, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Carl Anderson and Annie Louie Hightower. Rev. Gilbert served as pastor of churches in Mississippi, Louisiana and Georgia. Clarkesville, Georgia was their home for many years. She resided in the Magnolia Hills Assisted Living facility in Demorest, Ga.for the last 10 years. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Clarkesville for many years. She was the beloved Mother of four children: Susan Fagan (Charles), Clemson, SC. Wyatt M Gilbert, Jr. (Jean) San Antonio, Texas, Doctor Stewart Gilbert (Carol), Tifton, Ga. and James Carl Gilbert (Janice) Clarkesville, Ga. Cherishing her memory are several grand sons, grand-daughters, great-grand sons and great grand-daughters. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Whitfield North Funeral Home in Demorest, Georgia from 9:30 to 11:00 am. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm in the Franklin Memorial Gardens, Lavonia, Ga.
