Sue Mcelreath Bennett

SUE MCELREATH BENNETT, age 84, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2011. Mrs. Bennett was born on April 10, 1927, in Madison County, Georgia. She was a daughter of the late Fred W. and Jessie Adams McElreath. Mrs. Bennett was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Rev. Horace Bennett; her son, Royce Bennett; and her brother, Hoyle McElreath. She was a member of the Habersham County Senior Center where she volunteered for the Meals on Wheels. She was also a member of the Red Hat Club and attended Demorest Church of God. Mrs. Bennett was a homemaker. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jimmy Dillard, Baldwin, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Larry and Margie Bennett, Covington, GA, Stanley and Lisa Bennett, Dublin, GA, and Kenneth and Pam Bennett, Gainesville, GA; sisters, Lou Roling and Ramona Coile, both of Danielsville, GA; sister-in-law, Mary Evelyn Porter, Commerce, GA; brothers, Joe McElreath and Marvin McElreath, both of Danielsville, GA; 10 grandchildren, Geoffrey Dillard, Stephanie Hanrahan, Jennifer Bennett, Marlaina Davis, Rebecca Edwards, Stacey Gillespie, Brittany Howland, April Bennett, Stan Bennett, and Mandee Soles; 9 great-grandchildren; special friend, Ethel Smith, Cornelia, GA; and three wonderful caregivers, Clara, Ester, and Tanya. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Austin Ivester, Rev. Eddie Umbehant, and Rev. Mitch Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Grey Hill Cemetery in Commerce, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
