SHIRLEY LYONS HOWARD, age 74, beloved wife of John Edward Howard died at her home on Saturday, in Clarkesville from cancer. She has three daughters: Lynn Oglesby, Lisa Bullard, and Janet Geuter and ten grandchildren. She was born in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska and was raised in Cairo, Georgia. She graduated from Kansas State College and worked for Eastern Airlines. She dedicated her life to serving her family and her Lord. A lifetime Presbyterian, she openly and actively proclaimed her faith in Jesus Christ through service, music, and teaching. Some may remember her from the Daughters of the American Revolution, Sharing and Caring, The Saturday Shop, Cursillo Conferences, Stephen Ministry or Mexico Missions...but all knew her as a Godly woman whose "children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also." Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia with Rev. Blaine Walker officiating. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday.
