Selma Benfield Watkins

SELMA BENFIELD WATKINS, age 88, of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, following an extended illness at a local facility. Mrs. Watkins was born in Habersham County, Georgia on February 22, 1925, to the late Marlor and Sally Ivester Benfield. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Edward Watkins and two brothers, Wilmer and Cosby Benfield. Mrs. Watkins was a member of Cassville Methodist Church, Cassville, and attended Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Clarkesville. She was also a member of The Morning Glory Bible Study. Mrs. Watkins retired from Premier Yarns in 1992. Survivors include her son, Benny Edward Watkins, of Carterville; sisters, Audrey D. Dixon and Doris Sims, both of Clarkesville; brothers, Curtis and Lewis Benfield, both of Hollywood and Larry Benfield, of Demorest; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Tony Kemp officiating. A private family interment will be held at Cassville Cemetery, Cassville, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m., Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
