Sarah Elizabeth Short Todd

SARAH ELIZABETH SHORT TODD, age 84 of Clarkesville, GA died Saturday, March 1, 2008 at a local area hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Todd was born in Jackson County, GA on August 12, 1923 to the late Joseph Doss and Sally Wheeler Short. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Madison "Doc" Short, William Benjamin Short, James Short, and Tommy Short, sisters, Lucille Scroggs and Ruby Harris. Mrs. Todd was a member of the Hill's Crossing Baptist Church. She was a retired school teacher after 37 years of dedicated service in the Habersham County School system. Survivors include, husband, Ray E. Todd, Clarkesville, GA, son and daughter-in-law, DeWitt Ray and Teresa J. Todd, Clarkesville, GA, one sister, Zelma Swanson, Murphy, NC, grandchildren, Matthew Ray Todd, and Michael Paul Todd. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, March 3, 2008 at the Hill's Crossing Baptist Church with Rev. Walter Singletary and Rev. Kenneth McIntyre officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 am on Monday, to lie-in-state until the funeral hour. All family and friends should meet at the church by 10:45 am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
