Sarah Schlegel

Sarah Schlegel, age 82, of Toccoa, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. Mrs. Schlegel was born on May 16, 1934 in Wesson, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Purvis and Modena Taylor Raney; brother, Jimmy Raney. Mrs. Schlegel was Chef and Co-Owner of The Beef Baron. Prior to that, she was a realtor, hotel owner, and business executive. Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Fred Schlegel, of Toccoa; sons and spouses, Jeffery and Ann Schlegel, of Plover, WI; Frederick and Melissa Schlegel, of Cornelia; son, Richard Schlegel, of Toccoa; sister, Frances Thompson, of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Vincent Schlegel, Stephanie Schlegel and Andie Schlegel. Memorial Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 2, 2017 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Chaplain Tom Waggoner officiating. The family will receive friends directly after the service at the former Beef Baron, now known as the Lodge Montagna.
