Sarah Louise Lawson

Sarah Louise Ramey Lawson, age 80, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

Mrs. Lawson was born on May 15, 1942 in Pickens, South Carolina, to the late Marvin James Ramey Sr. and Ruth Waldrup Griffin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence, Clyde, David, Robert, and Marvin, Jr.; sisters, Betty Canipe, and Evelyn Griffin.

Sarah was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Gainesville. She was retired from Beaulieu Carpet Mill with over 30 years of service. Sarah devoted many years of service to her community, helping whomever was in need. It was a labor of love that she had to give to others endlessly. She was a strong advocate of animals. Sarah loved her family.

Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years and 4 months, Swain Lawson Sr., of Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Swain Lawson, Jr. and Lisa, of Gainesville; John Phillip Lawson and Say, of Gainesville; Kenneth Wayne Lawson and Cindy, of Dawsonville; grandchildren and their spouses, Amber Bailey and Parker; Andrew Lawson; Tyler Lawson, Ansley Lawson, Brandon Lawson, Corey Sullivan and Courtney; Amy Marin and Davin; April Riveria and Luis; Mia Lawson; Justin King and Chelsea; Jessie Mitchell; Elizabeth Hudgins, Austin Lawson; great-grandchildren, Jackson King; Bella Bailey, Elsa May Sullivan, James Bailey, Sebastian Riveria, Mateo Marin, Mirella Marin, Alayda June Ramirez, Dainton Byrd, Gunderson Michael Swain Sullivan; nephew and his spouse, Robert and Maria Ramey; niece and her spouse, Marci and Carry Slayton; a number of other relatives and friends; and two beloved pets, Gizmo and Biscuit.

Memorial Services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2023 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
