Mrs. Sarah Payne Anspach, better known as "Big Nanny", went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was 82. Born in Habersham County, Georgia on September 03, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Lemuel and Tressie Morris Payne. Mrs. Anspach was retired after 15 years of service with the Bay City Box Company and of the Seventh Day Adventist Faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Anspach, sons, Ronald Crane, Lawrence Crane, daughter, Sharon Crane, sisters, Altia Gerrin, Montene Chambers, brothers, R.B. Payne, and J.B. Payne. Survivors include her daughter, Laurel Crane, Cornelia, GA; sisters, Bonnie Loggins, Cleveland, GA; Mary Lomax, Alto, GA; Pashie Towery, Cornelia, GA; 3 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel in Baldwin, Georgia with the Rev. Paul Morris officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the South Chapel from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday.
