Ruth Wilson Oliver Smith

RUTH WILSON OLIVER SMITH, age 87, Alto, Georgia, went to be with The Lord on Friday, June 3, 2016 following an extended illness. Mrs. Smith was born on March 26, 1929 in Lula, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Roscoe, Sr. and Mary Lou Smith Wilson; first husband, Odis Oliver; son, Dorsey Oliver; brothers James Wilson, Herbert Wilson, Harvey Wilson, Harlan Wilson, Lloyd Wilson; sister, Shirley Wilson; step-son, Phil Smith; and granddaughter, Tammie Campbell. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church, and was retired from Riegal (now Mount Vernon Mills) with 20 years of loyal and dedicated service. Survivors include her husband, Alvis Smith, of Alto; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda Whitfield and Michael Fraser, of Alto; step-son and spouse, Charles and Dianne Smith, of Alto; sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte and J.T. Parson, of Alto; brother and sister-in-law, Harris and Joyce Wilson, of Alto; 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 6, 2016 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. Ricky Elrod officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the funeral home.
