Ruth Viola York Shedd

RUTH YORK SHEDD, age 92, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2011. Mrs. Shedd was born on July 24, 1918, in Clarkesville, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Henry Tatum and Ethyl Landers York. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Shedd and her daughter, Esther Louise Atkinson. Mrs. Shedd was a retired employee of the Cornelia Broom Company with 10 years of service. Ruth was a member of the Demorest Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Quist, Scottsdale, Arizona; son, Lee Roy Shedd, Cornelia, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Bryant and Polly Shedd, Cornelia, GA, Harold and Linda Shedd, Danielsville, GA, Larry and Karen Shedd, Clarkesville, GA, and Ron and Courtney Shedd, Rome, GA; sister, Jimmie Lou Colbert, Cornelia, GA; brother, Ralph York, Mt. Airy, GA; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. Billy Burrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Demorest City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
