Ruth Maynard Smith

Ruth Maynard Smith, age 80, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021. Mrs. Smith was born on March 6, 1941 in Raleigh, North Carolina to the late Herbert Maynard and Mattie Carpenter Maynard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Ray Bragg; and Joann Moore. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include her husband of nearly 50 years, Jim Smith, of Cornelia; daughter, Stacey Smith Ansley, of Baldwin; son, James Courtney Smith, of Oak Ridge, NC; daughter, Tearesa Adams, of Midlothian, TX; son, Charles Jackson, of Tampa, FL; sister, Jean Brook, of Vidalia, GA; twelve grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Georgia Sheriffs’ Boys Ranch, 5671 Boys Ranch Road, Hahira, Georgia 31632 or to the Circle of Hope, P.O. Box 833, Cornelia, Georgia 30531.
