Ruth Irene Wilson Benson

Funeral services for Ruth Irene Wilson Benson, age 87, formerly of Cornelia will be held on Monday, July 3, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from the First Baptist Church of Newnan where she was a member for 45 years. Mrs. Benson died Thursday morning at the home of her daughter, Jean Watson in Palmetto, GA. Ruth was born on August 16, 1918 in Lincoln County, NC to the late Reid Alfred Wilson, Sr. and Florence Ida Sain Wilson. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 1 sister. Survivors include: her husband of 63 years, Ralph Benson, Baptist Manor, Palmetto, GA; Son and Daughter-in-law: Ed and Diane Benson, Summerdale, AL; Daughters and Sons-in-law: Ann and Mark Gomez, Stone Mountain, GA; Jean and J.T. Watson, Palmetto, GA; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; Sisters: Ruby Smith, Cornelia, GA; Shirley Kimbrell, Cornelia, GA; Sister and Brother-in-law: Margie and Cecil Davis, Oakwood, GA. The family will receive friends at the Higgins Funeral Home in Newnan, GA from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday. The body will be placed in the church for an hour prior to the funeral service on Monday.
