Ruby Lee Wilbanks Wood

RUBY LEE WILBANKS WOOD, age 91, of Cornelia, GA passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2009. Mrs. Wood was born in Habersham County on May 2, 1918 to the late Gardner Estee and Ella Victoria Grant Wilbanks. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank W. Wood and her sisters, Violet Ramey and Frances Northcutt and brother, Garnett Wilbanks. Mrs. Wood was a member of the AARP, Helping Hands and was recognized for her 50 years membership at Cornelia First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Judy Lee and John Fairbanks, White Lake, MI; son, John W. Wood Plymouth, MI; 4 grandchildren, Mike and Mark Fairbanks, Chris and Greg Wood; 5 great-grandchildren, Isabel, Kira, Stella, Evelyn and Zander Willis Fairbanks and many nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2010 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest GA with Rev. David Turner and Rev. Tom Mewborn officiating. Burial will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
