RUBY GRACE CAUDELL, age 79, of Homer, GA, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at her residence. A 60-year resident of Grady Community, Banks County, Mrs. Caudell will always be remembered for her love of family, friends, and kind and thoughtful ways to those who were sick or in need. "Mama Ruby," as she was fondly called by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other kids, and even some adults, in the neighborhood, was known for her cooking, especially her coconut, strawberry, and friendship cakes. She was a daughter of the late Lee and Eurith Umbehant Roberson. Mrs. Caudell was born in Franklin County on October 10, 1928, and grew up in a large family of ten siblings. She was married for 61 years to P.G. Caudell, Jr. Mrs. Caudell was an active member of the congregation of the original Damascus Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, taught Vacation Bible School, and was active in the WMU. An avid jigsaw puzzle enthusiast, her hobbies included collecting coins and bells from cities and countries throughout the world. Mrs. Caudell loved to travel and always had a sense of adventure. Mrs. Caudell is survived by her husband, P.G. Caudell, Jr., Homer, GA; her daughters and sons-in-law: Carolyn Tieger Brown and Elliott Brown, Washington, DC; Debbie and Josh Hope, Hoschton, GA; Kathy and David Cobb, Alto, GA; her grandchildren: Tarra Turner, Rori Smith, Hunter Whitlock, Cameron Whitlock, Bryan Cobb; her great-grandchildren: Gage Turner, Symone Turner, Cain Smith, Rhys Whitlock. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. Terry Rice and Rev. Jim McClendon officiating. Interment will follow in the original Damascus Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
