Roy O. Herbert

ROY O. HERBERT, age 89, of Gillsville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015. Mr. Herbert was born on October 3, 1925 in Franklin County, Georgia to the late Otha and Lola Martin Herbert. He was a member of Silver Shoals Baptist Church, and was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills. In addition to his parents Mr. Herbert is preceded in death by his daughter, Valerie Herbert; brother, Bobby Herbert; and sister Magaleen Cook. Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Ellie Parson Herbert, of Gillsville; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Kenneth Brady, of Baldwin; sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Cindy Herbert, of Lula; Tommy and Toni Herbert, of Gillsville; son, Danny Herbert, of Gillsville; sister, Mattie Grace Scogins, of Hull; 4 grandchildren, Todd, Dolly, Rhonda, and Eric; 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Silver Shoals Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Parsons officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Mike Irvin officiating. The family will receive friends at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel from 2:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015.
