Robert Franklin Collier, age 84, of Cornelia, GA passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at a local hospital. Mr. Collier was born in Platt County, Missouri on September 29, 1926, to the late Steven Talmadge and Lela Heath Collier. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Wanda Maxine Dickerson Collier, 2 brothers, William Talmadge Collier and James Wilbur Collier. Mr. Collier was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia and active in masonry. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Marine Corps and at the age 17 received the Purple Heart. Mr. Collier retired as Vice President of the Marshall Durbin Companies with over 25 years of dedicated service. Mr. Collier is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Ann Collier, Cornelia, GA and 2 grandchildren, Andrew Collier and Christopher Collier. Memorial services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, with Rev. Blaine Walker officiating. A private committal was held prior to the memorial service. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
