Richard M. Yates

Richard M. Yates, age 78 of Clarkesville, GA formerly of Pennsylvania, died Monday, February 13, 2006 at a private care facility following an extended illness. Mr. Yates was born May 10, 1927 in Pineville, Pennsylvania to the late Alfred Yates and Rachael Hitman Yates. In addition to his parents, Mr. Yates was also preceded in death by a son and 2 sisters. He was a commercial freight driver for forty years. Mr. Yates was in the United States Marine Corps and a World War II Veteran. Survivors are 1 Daughter: Gay Lyn Miller McLaughlan, New Town, PA, 1 son: Rodney Miller, New Town, PA, 1 step-son: Duane Poole, Commerce, GA, 2 sisters: Marlene Hallinger, Pineville, PA, Merle Belke, Newtown, PA, 6 brothers: Bill, Hugh, Bobby, Junior, Clyde, and Bradford Yates, all of New Town, PA, 6 grandchildren, friends, Lewis and Joyce Dodd, Mt. Airy, GA and Mary McNulty, Clarkesville, GA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 16, 2006, from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA, with the Rev. Trent Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens, Demorest, GA with full Military Rites at the graveside conducted by Rabun County D.A.V. Chapter #15 and Habersham County American Legion Post #84 The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
