Rev. Robert "Bob" L. Ramsey

Rev. Robert "Bob" L. Ramsey, age 79, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011, at Mountain View Health Care in Clayton. Rev. Ramsey was born in Harlem, Georgia on August 17, 1931, to the late Gilbert G. and Mamie Burton Ramsey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Shackleford Ramsey, his second wife, Jane Clower Ramsey, and his son, Robert Douglas Ramsey. Rev. Ramsey was a graduate of Emory University, receiving his Masters Degree in Divinity. He was a United Methodist Minister in the North Georgia Conference. Rev. Ramsey pastored churches in the communities of Sandy Springs, Cedar Grove, Bowman, Burwell, Jefferson, Cornelia, Marietta, Doraville, Chatsworth, Lafayette, Augusta, and Commerce. He was a member of Cornelia United Methodist Church, Sharing and Caring, Rotary Club, and Kiwanis Club. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Steve Sparks, Chatsworth, GA; daughter, Jennifer Ramsey Richardson, Clayton, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Laura Ramsey, Greenville, SC; sister, Jackie Thomason, Bishop, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Frances Ramsey, Columbus, GA; and 9 grandchildren, Morgan and Gregory Ramsey, Cori and Garrett Sparks, Ashley, JoAnna, Cassidy, Brooke, and Brylee Richardson. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2011, at Cornelia United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at 4:00 p.m. in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery in Carrollton, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
