Rev. Henry Grady Barnes

REV. HENRY GRADY BARNES, age 75, of Demorest, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Rev. Barnes was born on December 1, 1937, in White County, Georgia; son of the late Travis and Della Tomlin Barnes. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Cody Cheynne Holbrooks; brothers, Harold and Earl Barnes; and sisters, Frances Barnes and Mildred Hammond. Rev. Barnes has been a Minister of the Gospel for 47 years having pastored several area churches. He was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Virginia Maxwell Barnes, Demorest, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Levi Chandler, Baldwin, GA and Caroline and Donald Chandler, Mt. Airy, GA; daughter, Robin Irvin, Baldwin, GA; sisters, Mary Hazel Ledford, Cleveland, GA and Tiney Stowe, Lula, GA; brothers, Bradford Barnes, Dahlonega, GA and Johnny Barnes, Cornelia, GA; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Rev. Chris York, Rev. Charles Phillips, and Rev. Danny Hart officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at the funeral home.
