REV. EDWARD L. AIKEN, age 93, of Cornelia, GA, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at a local area hospital following a short illness. Rev. Aiken was born on September 2, 1913 in Hall County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolly Jordan Aiken, his son, Jerry Aiken. Rev. Aiken was a minister of the gospel for over 57 years. He pastored a number of churches in the area including Victory Baptist Church in Jefferson, GA, Madison Street Baptist Church in Commerce, GA, Tabernacle Baptist Church in Thomaston, GA, Sunnyside Baptist Church in Toccoa, GA; Baldwin Baptist Church in Baldwin, GA, B. C. Grant Baptist Church, in Alto, GA, and Indian Creek Baptist Church in Carnesville, GA. Rev. Aiken was a member of B. C. Grant Baptist Church and the AARP. Survivors include: his daughters and sons-in-law: Marilyn and Aubrey Motz, III, Clarkesville, GA; Carolyn and Milton Stewart, Lecanto, FL; Shirley and Arnold Meeks, Homer, GA; Gail and Larry Smith, Baldwin, GA; his son: Donnie Jordan, Venice, FL; Grandson and his wife: Tim and Rita Aiken, Atlanta, GA; Grandson and his wife: Wayne and Mary Carol Aiken, Washington, DC; 3 paternal great-grandchildren; 13 maternal grandchildren; 22 maternal great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2007 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest with Rev. Doyle Conley and Rev. Billy Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the B. C. Grant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the B. C. Grant Baptist Church, P.O.
