Rev. Dr. Mark Preston Weaver

Rev. Dr. Mark Preston Weaver, age 61, of Dawsonville, GA passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at a hospice facility following a recent illness. Rev. Dr. Weaver was born on December 21, 1948 in Miami, FL to Naomi Preston Weaver and the late Sidney Mathew Weaver. Rev. Dr. Weaver received his undergraduate degree from Stetson University, Deland, FL, and his Master of Divinity and Doctoral degrees from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He was former Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Toccoa, GA, former Pastor of First Baptist Church of Cornelia, GA, and former Director of the Habersham Mental Health Center. Rev. Dr. Weaver was currently serving as Moderator of the Cherokee Presbytery, and currently was the organizing Pastor of Grace Presbyterian, N.C.D in Dawsonville, GA. Survivors are: his wife, Donna W. Weaver, Dawsonville, GA; his mother, Naomi Weaver, Dawsonville, GA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Christin and David Stone, Asheville, NC, and Holley and Justin Earl, Cartersville, GA; his son, Mathew Weaver, Atlanta, GA; 2 grandchildren: Darby and Audrey Earl, Cartersville, GA; a sister, Becky Yeomans, Miami, FL; his brother: Bill Weaver, Miami, FL. A Funeral Service will be held for Rev. Dr. Weaver on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at 1PM at Grace Presbyterian, N.C.D., located at the intersection of Highways 53 and 9 in downtown Dawsonville, GA. Rev. Dr. Ben Johnson will officiate. Another service will be held later the same day at 5PM at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA. Rev. Mike Campbell and Rev. Blaine Walker will officiate. Interment will follow the 5PM service in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The Weaver family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday, May 14, 2010 at Grace Presbyterian, N.C.D. in Dawsonville.
