Rev. Douglas Rigsbee

Rev. Douglas Rigsbee, age 76, of Lula, Georgia, died Sunday, May 31, 2009 at his residence. Rev. Rigsbee was born on August 29, 1932 in Durham County, North Carolina to the late Walter Lee and Hallie Elizabeth Becker Rigsbee. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Elaine Rigsbee, a sister, Patricia Ann Cole, and a brother, W. L. Rigsbee, Jr. Mr. Rigsbee was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the Gainesville Chapter DAV Chapter #17. Rev. Rigsbee was a Baptist minister with over 52 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Silver Shoals Baptist Church. Survivors include: his wife: Lucille C. Rigsbee, Lula, GA; his sisters: Thelma Lucille Rigsbee Libke, Portland, OR; Edith Evelyn Rigsbee Peckham, Ft. Ackerson, WS. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from the Silver Shoals Baptist Church with Rev. Melvin Baugh officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia from 6 until 9 p.m. on Monday. Rev. Rigsbee will be placed in the church at 4:00 p.m. to lie in state until the funeral hour. Arrangements are in the care of Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
