REV. DONALD HOLBROOK, age 75, of Mt. Airy, Georgia died Monday, December 01, 2008. Rev. Holbrook was born on July 27, 1933 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Clarence and Lois Yearwood Holbrook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Holbrook Bowen as well as brothers, Sgt. Horace Holbrook, Jack Holbrook, and Harold Holbrook. Rev. Holbrook was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a graduate of North Habersham High School, Toccoa Falls Bible College and Northeast Georgia Bible Institute. He was a minister of the gospel having pastored several churches including the Peoples Baptist Church, Hollywood Baptist Church, Tate's Creek Baptist Church, and the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and also served as Interim Pastor for many different churches. Rev. Holbrook was a member of the Hills Crossing Baptist Church and was a member of the Habersham Chaplains Association and the Northeast Georgia Baptist Relief Program. He was also retired from Russell Corporation, Habersham Mills Plant, as Employee Relations Director with 18 ½ years of service and was a vested employee of Scovill Manufacturing with 18 ½ years of service having held the positions of Personnel and Training Director and Supervisor as well as other training positions. Survivors include: his wife: Ruby Gragg Holbrook, Mt. Airy, GA; his daughters: Wanda Smith and Teri Shirley, both of Mt. Airy, GA; Pamela Owenby, Demorest, GA; his sisters: Audrey Hulsey, Mt. Airy, GA; Joyce Payne, Cornelia, GA; Juanita Partin, Cleveland, GA; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Furman Lewis, Rev. Jerrell Beatty, *Richard Smith, and *Mark Wilkinson officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. Walter Singletary officiating. The family will receive friends at the North Chapel from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home, 505 Waterworks Road, Palmetto, GA 30268. ARRANGEMENTS ARE IN THE CARE OF WHITFIELD FUNERAL HOME, NORTH CHAPEL, DEMOREST, GEORGIA.
