RAY H. ROHLETTER, 84, of Demorest, Georgia passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010. He was born on September 17, 1926, in Clarkesville, Georgia, a son of the late Howard and Duskie Rohletter. Mr. Rohletter was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Fry, Bonnie Franklin, and Jewel Welborn and brother, Guy Rohletter. Mr. Rohletter was a WWII veteran serving in the United States Navy. He was a proud graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1953. He was a 40 year employee of Chicopee Manufacturing in Cornelia and Gainesville, Georgia. Ray served the community by being a member of the Habersham County Board of Education and a member of the Demorest City Council. He was an avid bee keeper and cattle rancher. He attended Demorest Methodist Congregational Federated Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Ivester Rohletter; a son and daughter-in-law, Joel B. and Martha Rohletter of Marco Island, FL; daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Robert Chambers of Atlanta, GA and Amanda and Kenston Powell of Orange Park, FL; grandchildren, Grant Rohletter and wife, Meaghan, Daniel Rohletter and wife, Shaunna, Clint Rohletter, Emily, Benton, Rebecca, and Clayton Chambers, Mary Beth, Griffin, William, and Jack Powell; great-grandchild, Parks Rohletter; sister, Edith Smith of Clarkesville, GA; and beloved granddogs, Lucy and Georgia. The family will receive guests from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, November 26, 2010. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Joyce Acree and Dr. Susan Taylor officiating. The family will also receive guests from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens, Hwy 441. Demorest, Georgia with full military honors provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post # 84, Rabun County DAV Chapter 15, and the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post # 7720. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
